Piano & Voice lessons

I create a safe learning environment where mistakes are “ok” even as we work toward a high level of performance. Studies focus on meeting the student where they are: developing and building skills, theory, as well as the love of learning. I believe in the value of performing to a live audience as an intricate part of study. Students are encouraged to participate in annual recitals and other community events.​

I prepare students for auditions and coach them through productions. 

Math & Language Arts tutoring

I have loved math since I was a child, and I convey that love of math to my students in a way which can lead the fearful math student as well as the highly-driven, competent one to mastery.
​
I choose literature which complements the student's current history studies and interests. Themes are explored and discussed. As appropriate, these themes are applied to current events and topics relevant to the student. Book-based projects are created to bring some part(s) of the books “to life,” and comprehension and writing topics are derived from the texts.

Mixed Choir

I have been involved with choir since my teens, working with elementary, middle, and high school, as well as adult choirs. I am happiest when singing/dancing which is energizing to the participants in my choirs.

Students will learn proper technique, ear training, blending of voices, unison or harmony, and coordinated movement. The repertoire will incorporate students' interests. We will have performances throughout the year.​ Rehearsals will be held on Thursday evenings in Stephens City.
